Position summary

Our client, a leading global professional services firm, is seeking a Network Engineer for their IS Network Services & Engineering group. This role is a key part of their "follow-the-sun" support model, primarily responsible for providing Tier 3 (L3) support for the firm's global LAN, WAN, and WLAN infrastructure during Asia Pacific (APAC) business hours.

The ideal candidate will be part of a service-oriented team focused on ensuring high levels of efficiency, problem resolution, and network uptime.

Primary position responsibilities

  • Provide daily Tier 3 technical support for the network infrastructure located in global datacenters and office locations.
  • Configure and maintain the corporate LAN, WLAN, and WAN environments, including SD-WAN.
  • Proactively monitor network performance and ensure end-to-end integrity.
  • Lead advanced troubleshooting and issue management for all network infrastructure components.
  • Execute planned network maintenance, critical upgrades, and hardware refreshes.
  • Conduct wireless surveys, analyze the results, and perform necessary remediation.
  • Manage and support the firm's user remote access VPN solution (e.g., Palo Alto Prisma/Global Protect).
  • Provide technical assistance for regional office build-outs and infrastructure upgrades.
  • Track and analyze network data and trends against established performance SLAs.
  • Coordinate with third-party vendors for support, procurement, and issue escalation.
  • Create and maintain clear, high-quality technical documentation, procedures, and status reports.
  • Adhere to all departmental policies, standards, and Change Control procedures.
  • Assist management with administrative tasks and vendor management as required.

Other responsibilities

  • Assist in the deployment and support of related systems infrastructure.
  • Participate actively in all Change Control and Change Management (ITIL) processes.
  • Respond to administrative requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Support management with vendor coordination and administrative tasks.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned or required.

Skills & experience

Required:

  • After orientation, must exhibit proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite and other firm applications.
  • Must be ables to work extended and/or weekend hours and travel as required.
  • A minimum of 2+ years of direct, hands-on technical experience in a similar network engineering role.
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco switching, routing, and SD-WAN platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with Palo Alto PRISMA Access (or Global Protect).
  • Practical experience managing and troubleshooting enterprise-scale WiFi infrastructure.
  • Experience managing and utilizing network monitoring platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of core routing protocols, including BGP, EIGRP, and OSPF.
  • Ability to perform and analyze packet captures (e.g., Wireshark) for deep-level troubleshooting.
  • Solid understanding of fundamental firewall concepts and security policies.
  • Must be proficient in both spoken and written English.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Direct experience with Palo Alto Networks (PAN) firewalls.
  • Experience with Aruba Networks wireless infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with network automation tools and scripting (e.g., Python, Ansible).
  • Relevant professional certifications (e.g., Cisco, Palo Alto, or Aruba).
  • Fluency in Mandarin is a significant advantage.
