Senior Embedded Engineer_QC
Job Description:
Job Title: Senior Embedded Engineer (Robotics / AMR)
Location: Hong Kong (Base)
Job Type: Full-time
About the Opportunity
Our client is a fast-growing, innovative leader in Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR) and robotic systems. They are seeking a hands-on Senior Embedded Engineer with a strong background in robotics to join their dynamic team, based in Hong Kong.
This is a highly cross-functional, critical role. You will be the primary technical bridge between the company's internal R&D team and their key hardware manufacturing partner in Shenzhen. The ideal candidate possesses deep expertise in both hardware and software, strong communication skills in Mandarin, and a passion for hands-on problem-solving in a fast-paced "startup-like" environment.
Key Responsibilities
This role is a blend of on-site integration/testing at the factory and core embedded development.
1. On-Site Factory Integration & Testing (Shenzhen)
- Travel frequently (up to 60% of your time) to the manufacturing partner's factory in Shenzhen.
- Lead the installation of the proprietary autonomy software stack on newly assembled AMRs.
- Manage the integration of key sensors and components, including LiDAR, safety PLCs, motor drivers, and other critical hardware.
- Perform network and communication setup (ROS-based or similar) for all units.
- Conduct comprehensive Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) to validate all hardware and software functionality and performance before shipment.
2. Engineering Liaison & Quality Control
- Act as the main engineering liaison between the internal R&D team and the factory partner, ensuring clear technical alignment and quality standards.
- Identify, debug, and lead the resolution of any hardware or software issues discovered during assembly or FAT, working directly with local factory engineers.
- Continuously improve QC processes by developing new frameworks, implementing automated testing practices, and enhancing test strategies.
- Maintain meticulous documentation for all build, installation, and test reports.
3. Embedded Systems Development & Debugging
- Develop, debug, and test embedded software (firmware) for various robotic devices and in-house PCBs.
- Implement and debug Linux drivers for industrial communication protocols (e.g., CANBus, ModbusTCP).
- Read and analyze PCB schematics and hardware designs to implement appropriate firmware logic and conduct deep, component-level troubleshooting.
- Design and implement test tools and strategies for various hardware modules to support efficient manufacturing and quality control.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Electrical/Electronics, or Computer Engineering.
- Experience: 2-5 years of hands-on experience in AMR, mobile robotics, or industrial automation.
- Mandatory Language: Proficiency in Mandarin (both spoken and written) is essential for effective communication with the factory team.
- Travel: Must have the willingness and ability to travel frequently to Shenzhen (up to 60% of the time).
- Technical Stack:
- Strong, hands-on understanding of robot hardware (motor controllers, encoders, sensors, PLCs).
- Strong software skills in Linux, C++/Python, and ROS (Robot Operating System).
- Hardware Debugging:
- Proven experience in robot system integration and hands-on debugging.
- High proficiency in reading and analyzing circuit schematics and electrical line diagrams.
- Expert hardware troubleshooting skills at both the system level and PCB level.
- Tools: Familiarity with common test and diagnostic equipment (e.g., multimeter, oscilloscope, power supply, clamp meters).
- Protocols: Knowledge of networking protocols and industrial standards (e.g., CAN, Modbus) is a major plus.
- Soft Skills: Self-motivated, highly detail-oriented, adaptable, and a strong problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
How to Apply
Interested candidates are invited to submit their resume, detailing their experience in robotics, hardware debugging, and their proficiency in Mandarin.
